Ingredients
- For the dough:
- 3 glasses of flour
- 1 glass of fine semolina
- 1 egg
- salt and pepper
- 50g of margarine
- 1/2 glass of water
- For the joke:
- 200g of minced meat
- 1 small onion
- 2 eggs
- 2 cloves of garlic
- parsley
- salt and pepper
Preparation steps
- Prepare the dough: pour the flour, semolina and salt into a bowl and mix well.
- Add the margarine and rub the mixture between your hands until it has a sandy texture.
- Pour the water in gradually and bring the dough together until you obtain a smooth, non-sticky dough.
- Cover and let rest in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes.
- Meanwhile, prepare the stuffing: in a pan, fry the minced meat with the chopped onion, crushed garlic and a little oil.
- Season with salt and spices, then let it cook for a few minutes.
- Stir in the parsley and beaten eggs, then continue cooking until the mixture is thoroughly cooked.
- Allow the stuffing to cool completely.
- On a work surface, roll out the dough without making it too thin.
- Using a pastry cutter, cut out shapes, place a spoonful of filling in the center and gently close the cutter.
- Heat a bath of oil and fry the Bourek until golden brown on all sides.
- Drain them on absorbent paper and serve hot with the sauces of your choice.
For best results, make sure your dough isn't too thin before cutting it—it should remain slightly thick to crisp up nicely when cooked. Bourek can also be prepared in advance and frozen before frying, making them an incredibly convenient appetizer.
